A natural arroyo is another of the many nature-oriented attractions
to the community of Aliante. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate
the
arroyo, which is set against a mountain backdrop of The Sheep
Mountain Range.
This arroyo is part of the 428 acres, approximately 22 percent
of the
total acreage, that has been set aside for recreational and
public uses.
The Sheep Mountain Range is part of the Desert National Wildlife
Range. It is the highest of the six mountain ranges, the most
scenic,
and supports the greatest diversity of wildlife and vegetation.
The
Sheep Mountain Range is an excellent bighorn habitat. Desert
bighorn
often visit this area during the cooler part of the year from
late fall to
early spring. During the hot months they move north and closer
to
perennial springs.
